One moonless night, while traveling with the fire circus through the desert, Della had a vision of a luminous roller rink under the starry sky. A pair of skates mysteriously appeared in the sand, so she put them on and skated all night long. When she awoke the next morning, the rink was gone -- but the skates remained.
Some people dream of running away and joining a circus. Della, ultimately, dreamt of joining roller derby. While she might seem harmless, Della's bag of tricks is not as benign as you may think.
